This is where I ask for your help. Can we, as a community, allow the wisdom of nature to be welcome in our town parks? Can we see beauty in a little more diversity mixed in the grass? Please take time to go and visit Brookside Park and see for yourself if you think that the park is in good shape.

I see Brookside Park as absolutely beautiful and one of our best parks in Durango. It looks professionally managed and cared for. Please, help us keep all the parks that were originally chosen to be part of the first stage of the organic-lands resolution, including Brookside, Folsom and Riverview. It is an important first step in our humble attempt to care for our community, which includes the children and the pollinating insects. As a program, we have only given it one year and in the resolution, which was unanimously passed by City Council, it is written that we need to allow time to grow the health of the soil for the best results – a recommended wait of three years. Please, help us honor our best commitment to the community of Durango and maintain the current organically managed parks. Thank you for your help.
