Hypnosis for childbirth class available
Sky Gabel, a certified hypnotherapist is offering six sessions of hypnosis for childbirth on Saturday mornings from Dec. 13 to Jan. 17.
Classes will cover nutrition, exercise and birth plans, with emphasis on deep relaxation and visualization of hypnosis to ride the waves of labor. The mental/emotional stamina to maintain calm during the intense sensations of childbirth requires training. Research shows that couples who practice deep relaxation together before the birth will have greater success of allowing the labor to progress naturally than those who have not practiced relaxation.
In a hypnosis for childbirth class, partners become competent in relaxing the birthing woman by coaching productive breathing and positions to avoid fatigue. “Hypnobirthing” has been proved to shorten the first stage of labor and decrease the use of anesthesia.
To register, call 317-1317.
