The Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

One of the members has been researching nonsurgical options to treat prostate cancer and will do a 20-minute presentation at the beginning of the meeting. No reservations are required.

High Noon Rotary Club to meet

The High Noon Rotary Club of Durango will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 8 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

The meetings are open to the public. The cost for lunch is $15. Rich Butler will present “Micro-Lending: Path out of Poverty?”

Library to host civic education series

The Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., will offer a civic education series titled “What Do We Do?” with presentations by various city of Durango departments from January to May, where personnel from the city will explain their roles and the services their department provides for the community.

A presentation by the library will begin the series on Tuesday, followed by the City Manager’s Office on Jan. 13 and the Utilities Department on Jan. 27. All presentations will be held from 12:10 to 12:50 p.m. Attendees are welcome to bring a brown bag lunch.

Historical fund to host roundtable

Outreach and Historic Preservation Specialists from the History Colorado State Historical Fund will host a community roundtable at 10 a.m. Jan. 14 at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

State Historical Fund staff will outline the grant application process. While the outreach team is always available by phone or email, the roundtables offer people an opportunity to interact with staff directly, as well as learn from fellow applicants and their projects. The History Colorado State Historical Fund seeks to foster heritage preservation through tangible and highly visible historic preservation projects for direct and demonstrable public benefit.
