If the Herald had given any consideration to the families and friends of those affected by these tragedies, you might have concluded that it would be thoughtless and harmful to include these tragedies in your story, much less place them prominently on the front page.

In such a small, close-knit community, many lives were affected by these tragic events and the Herald’s decision to highlight them during the holiday season when many are still struggling with loss and grief was insensitive and offensive. You owe these families an apology.
