Durango School District 9-R announced the decision Wednesday evening, saying the required repairs and cleanup would take at least through Friday. The leak occurred after a drainpipe was blocked, and melting snow flooded both the Big Picture School and The Liberty School.
“The situation and cleanup at the school will continue to be assessed to help the school make determinations on the school schedule moving forward,” said Julie Popp, 9-R’s spokeswoman.
The school district planned a parent information meeting for Thursday evening to update families on the details of the leak and the repairs.
Durango School District 9-R will hold an informational meeting for parents of Big Picture High School students at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Boardroom of the Administration Building, 201 E. 12th St.
Additional updates on the repair and cleanup from the leak will be transmitted via the district’s emergency notification system on the website at www.durangoschools.org or on the information line on 375-3811.
