50 years ago: “Frank Anesi, Durango attorney, was named public defender for the 6th Judicial District by La Plata County commissioners. Anesi will be paid $4,800 a year plus $100 a month for office expenses.”

25 years ago: “With a public meeting scheduled by the opposition, county officials still are mum on details of a proposed land deal that would relocate the fairgrounds. … The county commissioners admitted they are considering an offer from a developer to build a new fairgrounds in the vicinity of Durango in exchange for the 31-acre fairgrounds propriety at 25th Street and Main Avenue.”
