Trails 2000 will host a Build Day on the progressive-style trail maintenance project on Medicine Trail, in partnership with the Trails 2000 Gravity Council, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday.
The project will include improving the flow, sustainability and overall fun factor of the Progressive Ridge riding area in Horse Gulch. No experience is necessary. Trails 2000 crew leaders and gravity council members will provide the tools, instruction and water/snacks.
Participants should park/ride to Horse Gulch Trailhead at Eighth Avenue and Third Street and walk up the road to the Trails 2000 work truck, where directions will be posted. Volunteers should wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, closed-toe shoes, a hat, sunscreen and bring a rain jacket and a water bottle.
Trails 2000 also will host a trail work day from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Zipline Trail. Participants should meet at the Horse Gulch Trailhead.

‘Harvest of Empire’ to be shown Sunday
Four Corners Immigrant Resource Center will present the documentary “Harvest of Empire,” documented by Juan Gonzales of “Democracy Now!” – at 1 p.m. Sunday at 419 San Juan Drive.
The screening is supported by the Unitarian Fellowship Social Justice Committee. Refreshments will be served. The film is an examination of the relationship between the U.S. and immigration. The featured speaker will be Danny Quinlan.

Garden on Tour to take place June 27
Garden on Tour will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 27, followed by a wine social from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
This annual private garden tour will take participants to gardens that rarely are seen. People will have a chance to see designs that range from a contemporary garden to Old English gardens. There also will be opportunities to visit with gardeners. Participants will tour two gardens that have become commercial enterprises, Xeric Gardens, a neighborhood of continuous gardens without fences and historic gardens.
Dave Claussen has donated a metal sculpture as the door prize that will be given away at the wine social at the library after the tour. All ticket holders are entered to win. Tickets are $18 to $25.

Gem club to host jewelry and rock sale
Four Corners Gem Club will hold an outdoor rock and jewelry sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in Brookside Park, in the 2300 block of North Main Avenue in the alley, on the lawn next to the turquoise building.
