Boaters brave enough to raft Smelter Rapid through the Whitewater Park were few and far between Friday afternoon at Santa Rita Park. This group from Mountain Waters Rafting tackled it head on. The Animas River swelled to 5,790 cubic feet per second Friday, down from Thursday’s peak, but more rain is expected Saturday and Sunday in Durango.
