75 years ago: “Supper outdoors formed a novel and a pleasant introduction to the bimonthly games of the Thursday Evening Card Club. Members convened a top Reservoir Hill with delicious contributions to a potluck supper. Later the party adjourned to the home of Dr. and Mrs. A. LaBurnett where whetted by a cool summer air, bidding took a ‘bullish’ turn and the usual games assumed an unusual excitement.”
50 years ago: “The nationally known Holiday Inn motel groups wants to establish an 80-unit motel in Durango with restaurant , lounge, swimming pool and meeting facilities for groups of 80 to 100.”
25 years ago: “Campers and hikers can pick up the telephone and call for the latest trail reports and campground information thanks to a new recreation hotline sponsored by Pine Needle Mountaineering, the San Juan National Forest Association and the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office.”
