Millard, meanwhile, went on to do her regular job well enough to capture the 3A/2A Southwestern League’s Goalkeeper-of-the-Year honor, as well as Honorable Mention All-SWL. Both girls can return for Bayfield next spring-not a bad problem at all for Head Coach Jennifer Zelinski to have.

Now-graduated seniors Andrea Zelinski and Meaghan Mooney were voted First Team All-League, along with now-seniors Maddy Duran and Bryannah Isiordia.

Duran and Zelinski formed one of the SWL’s best 1-2 punches offensively, with Duran netting 13 shots and Zelinski credited with 13 helpers while also serving as BHS’ corner-kick specialist during a 12-4-0 (10-2-0 SWL) season ending in the Class 3A State Tournament’s “Sweet 16.”

Mooney, still a scoring threat with five goals in ’15, answered the challenge to help shore up Bayfield’s protection of either now-junior Millard or Kaufmann and brought a physical element to the defensive unit.anchored by speedy sweeper Isiordia, who singlehandedly stopped a large number of enemy breakaways before a shot on goal could be taken.

Finally, now-graduated senior Koya Maniss also was awarded Honorable Mention All-SWL after not only gutting out a campaign curtailed by back problems and reduced playing time, but finishing the slate with a scoring flurry; she recorded five goals all told.
