Parkinson’s group meets on Thursdays
The Durango Parkinson’s Disease Education and Support Group meets the third Thursday of every month.

Durango continues weed abatement
The city of Durango will continue spraying through July 25 in these areas: sections of the Animas River Trail system, Chapman Hill, medians along Camino del Rio from U.S. Highway 550 south to U.S. Highway 160 east (intersection at Farmington Hill) to intersection of U.S. Highway 550 north and U.S. Highway 160 west (by the DoubleTree Hotel), city trail system at Three Springs, Three Springs Durango Police Substation and Three Springs open space.
The city has contracted with Tres Mesa for noxious-weed abatement. The herbicides that will be used are called Cornerstone, 2-4-D, Amine and Perspective.

“Getting More Fruits and Veggies with Smoothies” will be the next topic in a free series of talks at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Animas Valley Grange Hall, 7271 County Road 203, north of Durango.
This topic will be presented by Erin Jolley of Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters. As Southern Colorado manager, Jolley provides programmatic support for Cooking Matter’s nutrition-education programs. She will speak about a few simple, affordable ways to get the most from a person’s food budget, including a demonstration on fruit and vegetable smoothies. Attendees who complete a “pop-up grocery store tour” will receive a $10 gift certificate to a local grocery store.
The grange is sponsoring a series of informative talks by various local experts, and the talks occur once each month. Refreshments will be provided.
