The city of Durango provides community support funding to local nonprofit agencies through the annual budget process. More than $900,000 was allocated to support community programs and services in 2015.

The city will conduct a workshop at 9 a.m. July 20 at City Hall, 949 East Second Ave., to explain the budget-request process for 2016 Community Support Funding. Local nonprofit organizations interested in applying for funding are encouraged to attend.

In order to be eligible to apply, the local organization must be a certified nonprofit with the Internal Revenue Service in good standing and provide services to city residents

Friends of the Library to host summer sale

The Friends of the Durango Public Library will sell thousands of books at its Summertime Book Sale from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the library, 1900 East Third Ave.

A selection of quality books will be available in all categories. The cost is $1.50 per pound.
