History in spotlight at Bayfield library
The Pine River Library will host a “Heritage Hub Showcase” event at 7 p.m. Monday in the library’s community room, 395 Bayfield Center Drive.
The showcase will feature three short video histories of Joanne McCoy, Paul Davenport and Reva Grey, along with a reading from memoir writer Susan Terrill-Flint.
Members from the Pine River Heritage Society will share artifacts and stories.

FLC to celebrate Fiesta on the Mesa
The 11th annual Fiesta on the Mesa will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Student Union Plaza at Fort Lewis College.
The public is invited to celebrate the kick off of Hispanic Heritage Month with authentic food, folk dances and live Mexican music. With ID, FLC students, faculty and staff members can have dinner for free. Dinner is optional for community members. The cost is $8 and $4 for children younger than 10.
Live music and dance will be provided by Severo y Grupo Fuego, an award-winning Hispano music group. The band’s 90-minute set will begin at 5:30 p.m.
FLC’s student DJ Euphoria will begin the event. Other entertainment will include a live performance by Ballet Folklorico de Durango at 5:15 p.m., a piñata for children and the annual El Grito contest to celebrate the loudest and most authentic Mexicano shout.

Local time bank to meet Tuesday
Hour Exchange La Plata (HELP), the local time bank, will host a free introductory talk and software orientation from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center in Bayfield.
People considering joining the time bank should bring a laptop (preferable) or mobile device for the orientation.
