“It was a big success,” Chief Bruce Evans said. “There were a lot of people we hadn’t seen in some time. I think Cate was pretty overwhelmed.” The breakfast raised around $6,000, he said.
Eckert was holding a glass bowl full of donations. Several male firefighters sported pink hair, or pink scalp in one case. Various shades of pink shirts also were much in evidence, representing the national campaign to find a cure for breast cancer.
Last Friday, Upper Pine firefighters and members of the Bayfield Marshal’s Office were at The Grocery Store fundraising for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
