Durango Rotary Club to meet at the Strater

Bruce E. Rodman, president of the Durango Rotary Club Foundation, will speak on the history, status and future for the foundation at the Rotary Club of Durango’s meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Strater Hotel, 699 Main Ave.

First established by the Rotary Club of Durango in 1996, the 501(c)(3) foundation’s purpose is to support charitable and educational purposes in the Four Corners. Most recently, the foundation has contributed to multiple local Rotary clubs’ efforts to replenish mattresses and bedding at the Volunteers of America’s Durango homeless shelter. Visitors are welcome.

Road Runner will not run on Veterans Day

The Road Runner Transit will not run in observance of Veterans Day on Wednesday.

Regular service will resume Thursday. Road Runner Stage lines will operate as usual.

Writers, Scribblers to meet Wednesday

The Writers and Scribblers group will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Commons Building, 701 Camino del Rio.

The topic will be “Book Publishing: Stories of How I Became an Author, by Sylvester Allred.” Guests are welcome.

Bird walk to begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday

The weekly bird walk organized by For the Birds will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The walk is hosted by a variety of local nature organizations. Participants should meet at Rotary Park and bring binoculars. The walks last about 1½ hours. The walks are free, but donations to the hosting group are welcome. The bird walks are usually held at 8 a.m. during Daylight Savings Time and 9 a.m. otherwise.
