La Plata County will be moving the Department of Human Services from the La Plata County Courthouse and Riverbend North Campus to 10 Burnett Court at the Tech Center.

The Human Services Department will be closed to the public on Friday and Monday for the move, and only emergency child-welfare and adult-protection services will be provided. To report child abuse and neglect during the closure, call 385-6438 or 385-2900.

The document drop box at East Second Avenue and 11th Street will remain in that location, and will be checked daily.

Public transportation to 10 Burnett Court is available upon request of the driver on the Crestview/West Route 4.

Human Services will be open for business in its new location at 8 a.m. Jan. 19 with limited services. It will begin to offer full services by the end of the week.

Transit Center to be closed Saturdays

Beginning Saturday, the Durango Transit Center will no longer be open to the public on Saturdays.

The Durango Transit Center hours will be from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday. Durango Transit Services will not be impacted by this change; all buses will continue to run the same six-day weekly schedule in the winter and seven days a week in summer. Road Runner Stage Lines will continue to run service through the Transit Center; the Stage Lines kiosk in the Transit Center will be open based on its posted schedule.

Shopping event benefits foundation

The Downright Red Studio will host a special shopping event for Snowdown from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at 1015½ Main Ave.

Ten percent of proceeds will benefit the Mercy Health Foundation.
