Dodgeball Tournament announced for Jan. 28
The Southern Ute Community Action Programs Youth Services ninth annual Dodgeball Tournament will be held at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.
Teams assemble at 6 p.m. The cost is $85 per team, and proceeds will benefit youth development programs in Ignacio. All players must be at least age 18. Six to 10 people can be on one team. All teams must include at least one woman who must start.
Free informational meeting about Cuba
The Educational Adventures Company will hold a free informational meeting about travel to Cuba open for the public at 6 p.m. Friday in the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Spellebration event to be held on Jan. 27
The Durango Adult Education Center will host a Spellebration event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at the Henry Strater Theatre, 699 Main Ave.
Twelve teams of three people compete in a spelling bee contest to vie for the title of “Gnarly Spelling Champions”. Teams are encouraged to wear their best Snowdown 80s costumes. The cost is $200 per team, and it is tax deductible. Call 385-4354 or visit www.durangoadulted.org for more information.
Cattlemen to hear from Sheriff Smith
Sheriff Sean Smith will be the guest speaker for the La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen’s Association at 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at the Extension Building on the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
Plans for association activities for 2016 will be finalized including preparations for the Annual Banquet to be held April 23 and the Chuck Wagon Cook-off on July 30.
