Expert to talk to teens about drug, alcohol issues
The Durango Recreation Center and Durango High will host Lynn Riemer, president of ACT on Drugs Inc., as part of a collaborative effort with Celebrating Healthy Communities and La Plata Youth Services to raise awareness about the effects of drugs and alcohol among teens at 6 p.m. Monday.
Riemer will speak to students during the school day in grade-level groups about drug awareness and the effects drugs can have on a student’s future.
She will host another evening session for parents and community members to educate them about what today’s drugs look like, signs of drug use in youth and effective strategies for engaging youth in a meaningful dialogue about drug use.
