Water has been restored to residents at the north end of Durango after another water main break Wednesday.
“Some water customers may experience cloudy water because these breaks have likely stirred up sediment in the line,” the city said in a Facebook post. “We are advising those with cloudy water to flush their lines by running cold water through their taps until the water runs clear.”
The water is safe to drink, the city officials said.
“It appears that one of the city’s contractors working near Memorial Park hit a water line,” city spokeswoman Sherri Dugdale said in an email. “In addition, someone hit a fire hydrant in the same area (coincidentally).”
Crews were able to isolate the line and get water back on for residents relatively quickly, she said.
The city has experienced several water main breaks in recent months, including two on north Main Avenue that had northbound traffic restricted to one lane for several weeks, one near Park Elementary School that damaged two classrooms and another on west 25th Street, which affected accessibility to Miller Middle School and delayed classes.
