75 years ago: Past commanders of Trujillo Sheets Post No. 28, American Legion, were announced to meet for dinner at the Strater Hotel. Guests included Major Thomas F. Mishou Jr., of Omaha, Nebraska, and Captain Jerry P. Tobin of Pueblo.
50 years ago: It was announced that Colorado received approximately $900,000 each year for development of outdoor recreation areas. According to Harry R. Woodward, director of the Colorado State Department of Game, Fish and Parks, half of that amount was used for political subdivisions in the state. A meeting, led by Woodward, to discuss the application of funds was scheduled to be held in Bayfield.
25 years ago: Spur-maker Bo Bonds of Bayfield and “horsehair hitcher” Al Pappas of Ignacio demonstrated crafts for young cowboys and cowgirls at the National Cowboy Hall of Fame’s first “National Children’s Cowboy Festival” in Oklahoma City.
