Fewer than 50 people attended, well below an anticipated 100, especially for Verdi’s blockbuster production of “Aida” with Russian soprano Anna Netrebko singing the lead.

Here’s what happened.

After the official Metropolitan Opera announcement from New York about the earlier debut, a few people showed up at FLC to an empty room. Over the last two weeks, others have inquired if the MET/FLC program had been canceled.

Because of multiple events scheduled over October’s first weekend, Charles Leslie, director of the Community Concert Hall at FLC, opted for the MET encore, a delayed showing of the filmed live production. Leslie rescheduled “Aida” for Oct. 13.

For similar reasons, another opera on the official Met schedule, “Samson et Dalila,” has been rescheduled for Nov. 17. It, too, will be an encore performance.
