To receive funds, agencies must: be private, voluntary nonprofits with a board or units of government; have an accounting system; practice nondiscrimination; and demonstrate the capability to deliver emergency food/shelter programs.

Local agencies that qualify are urged to apply; the application deadline is at 5 p.m. June 18.

Representatives of the agencies that submitted applications must attend a meeting from 10 a.m. to noon June 19 at the United Way office, 281 Sawyer Drive, to review applications and allocate funds.
