Above-average temperatures in early February caused accelerated snowmelt above East Animas Road (County Road 250), which created a flow of mud and debris that closed the road about 2½ miles north of Durango for about a month. The road reopened in both directions Wednesday evening.Shane Benjamin/Durango Herald file
La Plata County officials said the debris flow that had impacted the road since Feb. 10 has ceased, allowing the county to finish clearing the road and open it to traffic in both directions.
Road crews spent Wednesday removing debris from bar ditches, before cleaning the pavement of film left by the flows.
