Numerous residents have reported being contacted by a person who claims to be a CDOT representative conducting a survey that requires personal information, such as date of birth, driver’s license number and residential address. When community members refused to give the caller their information, they were threatened with deportation.

“Do not provide any information about yourself to anyone over the phone. The Colorado Department of Transportation would never ask for personal information or threaten deportation,” said Gina Talmadge, CDOT customer service manager.

If anyone receives a call, CDOT suggests people ask the individual’s name and phone number, then hang up and immediately call CDOT at (303) 757-9011 to report the information.
