For Bayfield to grow and thrive as a community, we need a strong school district and adequate buildings for our students. Our kindergarten students currently are attending classes in a 100-year-old building, our first graders are in modulars, and having children cross a street to get to the gym and cafeteria is not a safe situation today.
Bayfield Primary School was selected by the state BEST grant committee as the building most in need of renovation in the state of Colorado. To that end, the state $8.57 million BEST grant amounts to building a school for 25 percent off.
As a business organization, our members also realize the economic boost a $37.2 million construction project will have in our small town.
Please join us in voting for 3B on Nov. 8, and don’t forget to return your ballot in the mail or bring it to a drop-off location in Bayfield, Ignacio or Durango.
