Durango Police Department officers investigate a crash Friday afternoon at the intersection of Camino del Rio and Ninth Street that sent three people to Mercy Regional Medical Center. According to officer Dave Smith, there were conflicting statements about who was at fault. The Ford Mustang was in the northbound turn lane of Camino del Rio, attempting to make a left turn and the Toyota Camry, southbound, hit the Ford. It is not clear who had the right of way, Smith said, and the incident is under investigation. Smith said that while the driver of the Toyota was lying on the ground in pain, someone stole his phone. The driver and passenger of the Ford and the driver of the Toyota, the only occupant, were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The airbags in both cars deployed.
