In the summer of 2017, a violent protest in Charlottesville, Virginia, ignited a long-simmering controversy over Civil War statues. Art historian and journalist Judith Reynolds will link contemporary disputes over equestrian and other forms of public art to the past, explore present options and discuss the ancient practice of political erasure.
