Valdivia, 71, of Cortez, died July 23 in Mexico. Her daughter, Sabido, is an undocumented immigrant who has lived in sanctuary since June 2017 in Mancos.

According to Sabido, Valdivia was diagnosed with Stage 2 cancer in December and sought treatment in Mexico to be near her relatives. She died of a heart attack after her first chemotherapy treatment, Sabido said.

Father Pat Valdez and Pastor Craig Paschal will lead the memorial service, which will be followed by a reception.
