I think it should be illegal to drive 22 mph slower than the posted speed limit with a name like “Raptor” or “Puma” or “Deathwolf” painted on the back of a vehicle or trailer. What are all these dangerous, sleek and aggressive predators hunting?
I’ll tell you. They hunt the last vestiges of my sanity as I hope for a passing lane or a napalm-delivery system for my vehicle, all the while being mocked by a huge graphical representation of the dangerous or mythical creature with teeth and claws ready to tear me apart. Not to mention the disrespect shown to the poor creatures who are the namesakes. I really doubt any self-respecting saber-toothed tiger would behave like that on the open road.
Not quite as bad but still annoying are the ones named after destructive storms: “Cyclone” or “Hurricane.” Kind of makes sense at least. “A slow-moving “Cyclone” disrupted traffic between Bayfield and Pagosa, many people had to be rescued from their vehicles as they were not prepared for the three days they were trapped behind the storm.”
These terrors need to be stopped. If people feel the need to drive 37 mph in a 65-mph zone, the only graphic they should be allowed to display is an orange triangle. I think law enforcement should confiscate these atrocities when found on our roads. They can then be painted over and sold to New Mexico where that kind of driving is encouraged. The revenue gained can be used to build some more overpasses.
