And he’s a remarkable shot, good from long range, great from distance.

Which is why after six weeks of play, Tucson – aka “pistolpete” – has a one-point handle on the Gridiron Green leaderboard. He scored 14 points (all 2s; remember, there was no 3-point line in Pistol’s heyday) to win the Week 6 Green – his third consecutive week in double digits, and he’s scored no less than eight points to accrue his season-leading 66 points.

Yours truly had his second consecutive 10-4 week to run his season total to 51-39.

From Tucson to Phoenix, let’s pick Week 7 …

Week 7

Bye: New Orleans, Oakland.

Thursday, Oct. 17

Seattle at Arizona (NFL Network) – Last time around, the Seahawks won 58-0. Granted, it was in Washington, but still … 58. Pick: Seahawks, 20-14. Line: Seahawks by 6½.

Sunday, Oct. 20

Tampa Bay at Atlanta – The Falcons lost at home to the Jets, then lost Julio Jones to the season. I trust they can handle the winless Bucs after a bye week, however. Pick: Falcons, 26-13. Line: Falcons by 7.

Chicago at Washington – Smokin’ Jay Cutler and the Bears will head into their bye with a share of first place in the NFC North. Pick: Bears, 31-26. Line: Redskins by 1.

Dallas at Philadelphia (KASA) – Handoff, LeSean McCoy. That’s something the Cowboys don’t have. Pick: Eagles, 28-27. Line: Cowboys by 3.

New England at N.Y. Jets (KCNC, KREZ) – Turns out, Tom Brady doesn’t need help after all. Pick: Patriots, 13-10. Line: Patriots by 4.

Buffalo at Miami – There will be a hanging Thad (Lewis) in Miami. Pick: Dolphins, 23-16. Line: Dolphins by 8½.

St. Louis at Carolina – Jekyll? Or Hyde? For these two teams, it depends on the week. This week? Pick: Rams, 17-16. Line: Panthers by 6.

Cincinnati at Detroit – The Bengals are road cats. Pick: Bengals, 27-20. Line: Lions by 2½.

San Diego at Jacksonville – I’m picking it. The NFL’s worst played the NFL’s best tough last week, and that finally will pay off in victory with a short week for the Chargers. Pick: Jaguars, 28-13. Line: Chargers by 7½.

San Francisco at Tennessee – The 49ers are starting to resemble the team we thought they were. Pick: 49ers, 28-20. Line: 49ers by 4½.

Houston at Kansas City (KCNC, KREZ) – The Texans are trending down. Pick: Chiefs, 19-10. Line: Chiefs by 6½.

Cleveland at Green Bay – Aaron Rodgers pulls a Brady and wins without wide receivers. Pick: Packers, 21-13. Line: Packers by 10.

Baltimore at Pittsburgh – Have the Steelers turned the corner? We’ll soon find out. Pick: Steelers, 20-19. Line: Steelers by 2.

Denver at Indianapolis (NBC Sports; KRSJ 100.5 FM) – All tweets aside, the Colts’ future hands the Colts’ past the Broncos’ first loss of the season. Pick: Colts, 33-27. Line: Broncos by 6½.

Monday, Oct. 21

Minnesota at N.Y. Giants (ESPN) – Free Josh Freeman. The Vikings have; he’ll make his first start for the Purple on Monday Night Football. Giants, however, finally get off the schneid. Pick: Giants, 24-16. Line: Giants by 3.
