Michelle Simmons wrapped up her Ignacio High School career with a fifth-place finish in the 200-meter dash finals Saturday at the CHSAA Class 2A Track and Field State Championships in Lakewood.
Her 26.44-second mark was good but not good enough to get close to Kendall Horan of Lutheran, who broke the state meet record by nearly half a second with a 24.96 finish.
Sophomore Klayson Smith finished one spot lower in the boys high jump to close out Ignacio’s state meet. He cleared 6 feet, 2 inches to tie for sixth. Chris Epps of Peyton won the meet with a 6-6 jump.
