Karen Skelly with Karen Skelly Photography will share her secrets to taking better images during the next Womens Resource Center Empowerment Workshop at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lost Dog Bar & Lounge, 1150 Main Ave.
The workshop will cover framing subjects, lighting and other topics. After an introduction at the Lost Dog, the workshop will move to Buckley Park for instruction on outdoor lighting techniques. The workshop is free for WRC members, $5 for the public.

Texting is theme of childrens concert
The Durango Childrens Chorale will present its spring concert, TXT-TASTIC, at 4 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive. Director Amy Barrett will lead the chorale in a program of beautiful, serious, funny and ridiculous musical texts. The concert will include the Durango premiere of Im Gonna Sing When the Spirit Says Sing, arranged by Rochelle Mann and C. Scott Hagler.

Cyprus to hold Cinco de Mayo feast

Mancos gallery seeks car art
The Mancos Town Gallery, operated by the Mancos Valley Arts Council, is asking for participants in its exhibit, The Car Show. Its all about vehicles autos, trucks and schoolbuses. All media are welcome as long as the subject is cars, etc. Sculptures or other dimensional art can be made from car/truck/etc. bits and parts. The deadline for submissions is May 15. The show will open with a reception for the artists May 23 and run through June 29.

Stillwater offers summer music camp
The Stillwater Foundation will offer 13 summer music camps beginning June 10. Genres and subjects will include beginning percussion, jazz, theory I and II, blues, jazz fusion, strings and more. All camps are taught by music professionals experienced in teaching young musicians. Guest instructors include Kirk James and Tim Sullivan.
