The Ignacio High School football team was originally scheduled to take on Red Mesa (Arizona) on Friday in its season opener. The two teams still played, but the contest was changed to a scrimmage game. The Bobcats, however, were still able to show off their form as they prepare for the upcoming season, outscoring Red Mesa 70-0 at IHS Field.

Ignacio posted 20 points in the first quarter, 28 in the second, 16 in the third and 6 in the fourth. For the game, the Bobcats totaled 10 touchdowns, went 4-of-10 on two-point conversions and also recorded a safety – the very first points of the game – when Red Mesa fumbled a punt snap out of the back of the end zone.

Ignacio’s season opener will now be at 7 p.m Sept. 9 at home against White Horse (Utah).
