San Juan County and Local Emergency Planning Committee will host a hazardous waste collection event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at San Juan County Administration parking lot, 100 S. Oliver Drive, Aztec.

Community members from Bloomfield and unincorporated areas of San Juan County may bring hazardous waste to the collection site. Residents of Aztec and Farmington will have curbside pickup.

People who take items to the collection site must bring proof of residency, such as a New Mexico driver’s license or utility bill. No waste from Aztec or Farmington will be accepted at the collection site.

Farmington residents may visit bit.ly/COFsanitation for curbside hazardous waste pickup options.

Items that may be disposed of include used batteries, light bulbs, auto fluids, gas, brake fluid, antifreeze, household cleaners, gardening chemicals, insecticides, weed killers, fertilizers, aerosols and paints.

Items that will not be accepted include biomedical or medical waste, explosives, compressed gasses, 55-gallon drums, yard waste, ammunition, appliances, tires, electronic waste and business or industrial waste.
