FCI Constructors oversaw the demolition of the old Durango Fire Department training tower Tuesday at Station No. 2, at 1235 Camino del Rio in central Durango, where the Durango Fire Protection District is building a new station. The training tower was built in the mid- to late-1980s and was used for live fire training until the early 1990s, when it was no longer used for live fire training. More recently, it was used for search training, ladder training and rope work. The DFPD has a more modern training tower in Bodo Industrial Park. The old Community Development Building is expected to be demolished later this week. (Shane Benjamin/Durango Herald)
