Americans say that the federal government must insure health care for all (62%). A majority (66%) are deeply concerned about climate change, favor stricter gun laws (60%), and higher taxes on wealthy individuals and corporations (62%). A majority (69%) do not have confidence they are receiving reliable information from the media, and do not trust the government (75%).
A majority believe that America’s “endless wars” are eroding the government’s ability to provide essential infrastructure and social services. Increasing numbers believe the media is acting as a mouthpiece for the government rather than doing critical issue analysis.
Orwell said that journalism is about printing what the government doesn’t want you to know: Everything else is just public relations.
Fortunately, we live in an era where alternative views, news and commentary are available. The following people are experts who offer a closer version of the truth than does the mainstream media.
Lawrence Wilkerson (retired U.S. Army Colonel, Colin Powell’s chief of staff); Jeffrey Sachs (economist); Scott Ritter (U.S. Marine, U.N. weapons inspector); Larry Johnson (CIA analyst) Ray McGovern (CIA); Matt Hoh (U.S. Marine, State Department analyst); Chas Freeman (Saudi Arabian Ambassador, Assistant Secretary of Defense, Nixon translator); Alastair Crooke (MI6 Intelligence officer); Nima Alkhorshid (journalist); Richard Wolff (economist); John Mearsheimer (political scientist); Andrew Napolitano (federal judge, Fox News host).
