My son and his team at MVIH got emails from the DOGE. Here is what I wrote to them:
The recent executive orders and mass messaging have rattled a lot of federal workers, and I can only imagine how they’ve hit you. You’re out there risking everything, and then comes an email that feels like a jab at your worth, or worse, a vague threat about “firing” if you don’t reply.
It’s unfair, and it’s got to weigh on your mind – especially when you’re already carrying the stress of being ready to fight fires nationwide at a moment’s notice. You deserve better than that kind of uncertainty hanging over you.
Here’s the truth: Your morale matters, and it’s taken a hit when it shouldn’t have. You ought to be getting a pay bump and a benefits package that reflects your sacrifice – something to lift you up, not drag you down.
Seasonal or not, you’re at the top of the list for fire safety, and we need you strong and steady. I wish I could snap my fingers and make that happen today, but what I can promise is that your value isn’t lost on those who see the bigger picture.
Hang in there!
