Volunteers Ella Nicolai and Emma Knudson dig up weeds around the Cortez Recreation Center. Youths from Colorado, California and Wisconsin are working on service projects in Cortez until August through the service organization YouthWorks. This week, the 49 visitors worked on landscaping at the Cortez Rec Center, and they’ll be working on other projects around the city over the summer, said YouthWorks coordinator Greg Molina. YouthWorks also hosts a cookout every Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Lifeway Baptist Church, 601 N. Dolores Road.
