The Center of Southwest Studies has announced its summer lecture series based on the theme \u201cWomen in the Southwest.\u201d The series kicks off with a presentation from journalist and art critic Judith Reynolds on Wednesday, June 13. It\u2019s titled \u201cO\u2019Keeffe\u2019s Odyssey to the West.\u201d<\/p>\n
Other dates and presenters include:<\/p>\n
June 27: \u201cThree Women, One Story: 1,000 Years of Art, History, and Culture\u201d with author Kate Nelson<\/p>\n
July 11: \u201cMillicent Rogers \u2013 From New York to Taos\u201d with Center of Southwest Studies director Shelby Tisdale<\/p>\n
July 18: \u201cWestern Women We Respect \u2013 Durango\u2019s Own Olga Little\u201d with FLC history professor Andrew Gulliford<\/p>\n
July 25: \u201cAlice Eastwood \u2013 Pioneer Botanist in the Four Corners\u201d with Marietta Eaton, manager of the Canyon of the Ancients Visitor Center and Museum<\/p>\n
Aug. 8: \u201cMable Dodge Luhan and Company \u2013 Creating Southwest Modernism\u201d with U Mass Boston Professor Emerita, Lois Rudnick<\/p>\n
Aug. 22: \u201cSlim Woman \u2013 Louisa Wade Wetherill of Kayenta\u201d with historian Harvey Leake<\/p>\n
Lectures will be held at 1:30 p.m. in the Center\u2019s Lyceum Room 120. Lectures are free to the public, and parking is free during summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
