Competing against athletes from 13 other teams, members of the Dove Creek High School boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 track teams performed well at the Terry Alley Invitational in Pagosa Springs on May 5.<\/p>\n

Among the top finishers for the girls\u2019 team was senior Larissa Randolph, whose blistering time of 17.52 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles was good enough to earn her top honors in the event. Also performing well in the 100-meter hurdles were Kobie Beanland, who placed third overall (18.00), and Madilyn Hankins, who crossed the line fifth overall (18.74).<\/p>\n

Other strong performances by members of the girls\u2019 team in running events came courtesy of Bridge Seely, who placed eighth in the 800-meter run (7:48.13), and Aspen Kibel, who finished ninth in the 1600-meter run (8:00.92).<\/p>\n

Top performers for Dove Creek in the throwing events included Cassie Gatlin, who placed second in the shot put (22 feet, 9 inches) and eighth in the discus (87 feet, 10\u00bd inches), and Makayla Hankins, who finished seventh in the discus.<\/p>\n

The Dove Creek girls\u2019 team finished fourth in the 14-team event with 48 total points, while Pagosa Springs placed first with 102 points.<\/p>\n

On the boys\u2019 side, Dove Creek was led by JD Dennison, who placed third in the discus (118 feet, 1 inch), and fourth in the shot put (38 feet, 3\u00bc inch). Walker Cressler also enjoyed a solid day with a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (12.30), a seventh-place finish in the triple jump (32 feet, 4\u00bc inches), and an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash (25.94).<\/p>\n

Austin Green crossed the line seventh in the 300-meter hurdles (52.47), and Daniel Folkner placed ninth in the 400-meter dash for Dove Creek, which finished ninth overall in the boys\u2019 standings with 28 total points.<\/p>\n

Next up for both Dove Creek teams will be the Grand Junction Tiger Invitational, in Grand Junction on May 10.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
