The airport has received a grant to design a reconstruction of 1,500 feet of taxiway.<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Durango Herald file<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that through the Federal Aviation Administration, a number of Colorado airports would receive grant money, totaling $4.3 million.<\/p>\n<p>Tony Vicari, airport director, said some parts of the taxiway at the Durango-La Plata County Airport are more than 40 years old and in need of repair.<\/p>\n<p>The awarded grant money will fund the engineering designs for reconstructing about 1,500 feet of taxiway.<\/p>\n<p>The airport has a total of about 9,200 feet of taxiway.<\/p>\n<p>After designs are complete, the airport hopes to receive another grant to help fund construction scheduled to begin in spring\/summer 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>of Durango-La Plata County\u2019s taxiway are more than 40 years old.
