The Dolores Mountain Quilters Guild plans to hold its 2018 biennial quilt show from Aug. 24-25 at the Dolores Community Center.<\/p>\n
It \u201cpromises be an exciting showcase for local quilting artistry,\u201d Judith Swain said in a press release.<\/p>\n
Show times are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Aug. 24, and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Aug. 25.<\/p>\n
The show will feature more than 100 quilts, which will be judged by the public in six categories. A quilters\u2019 boutique will offer many handmade gifts and treasures, door prizes will be drawn each hour, and raffle tickets will be for sale on our stunning king-size quilt \u201cNavajo Serape.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThis design is especially pertinent to our geographical and cultural area,\u201d Swain said. \u201cIt is inspired by Native American weaving designs and has been executed in warm southwestern colors by guild members.\u201d<\/p>\n
Several vendors will offer fabric, patterns and notions.<\/p>\n
Tickets are available at the door for $3 per person for 16 years and older.<\/p>\n
Entries for the quilt show should be pre-registered by Aug. 6 and will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis. Entry registration forms are available from doloresmountainquilters.org<\/a> by clicking on \u201cQuilt Show\u201d and emailed to swedishgirl20@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n Additional entry information is available on the website.<\/p>\n The Dolores Mountain Quilters Guild\u2019s monthly gatherings focus on members\u2019 quilting creativity, continuing quilting education for members and the community, support in the form of donated quilts to those in need, quilting creations offered to local nonprofits for fundraising, and annual cash contributions in appreciation of local service organizations.<\/p>\n
