The Alzheimer\u2019s Association is also the largest non-governmental source of funds for research to address the deadliest disease without a prevention, treatment or cure. Programs provide education, care and support for people with Alzheimer\u2019s disease and their caregivers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe 12 Walks to End Alzheimer\u2019s across the state are the primary source of funds for services offered through the Colorado Chapter, and we have an ambitious target of $25,000 for the 2018 Cortez Walk alone,\u201d said Elaine Stumpo, regional director for the Southwest Colorado Chapter of the Alzheimer\u2019s Association.<\/p>\n
The proceeds from the Walks enable the Alzheimer\u2019s Association of Colorado to continue to provide \u2013 at no charge \u2013 the essential programs and services for persons who receive the Alzheimer\u2019s diagnosis, as well as to their caregivers and families.<\/p>\n
The funds also support the Association\u2019s free 24\/7 Helpline (800-272-3900), a resource which provides access to all Alzheimer\u2019s Association services in more than 200 languages.<\/p>\n
The 2017 Southwest Colorado Walk to End Alzheimer\u2019s will be held at Cortez City Park starting at 8:45 a.m. Saturday.<\/p>\n
