The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train and a Hyundai sedan were involved in a crash Wednesday morning in north Durango.<\/p>\n

The train was making its morning trip to Silverton about 9 a.m. when it crossed 32nd Street and hit the rear passenger side of a silver Hyundai sedan traveling eastbound. The car spun 180 degrees before it stopped in the middle of the street.<\/p>\n

The train signals, whistles and bells were all working at the time of the crash, said D&SNG superintendent Scott Shewmake. No injuries were reported. A crash like this \u201cusually doesn\u2019t damage the train,\u201d Shewmake said.<\/p>\n

The train was traveling about 12 mph at the time of the crash, Shewmake said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think people are not used to having the train in town,\u201d Shewmake said, referring to the D&SNG suspending service out of Durango for nearly two months this summer while tracks were repaired from mudslides below the 416 Fire burn area.<\/p>\n

The driver of the Hyundai was cited for disregarding a traffic signal and\/or crossing gate, said Durango police officer Ron Wysocki.<\/p>\n
