Austin-based bluegrass band Wood & Wire will play the Dolores River Brewery on March 3.<\/p>\n

The band\u2019s recent album \u201cNorth of Despair\u201d was nominated for a 2018 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Record. Their style combines \u201chard country songwriting with high-octane bluegrass instrumentation,\u201d according to the band\u2019s website.<\/a><\/p>\n

Wood and Wire have become respected for their ferocious live shows, and many songs are based on life experiences living in the deep Texas countryside.<\/p>\n

A highlight of the group is the interplay between mandolinist Billy Bright and banjo player Trevor Smith, a sound that is as much \u201ccountry funk as it is Monroe and Scruggs.\u201d<\/p>\n
