She is also an artist and offers free painting classes.<\/p>\n<p>Bryan Kyle is the new library assistant. As \u201ca lifelong bibliophile,\u201d he can help you find a great read and suggest authors.<\/p>\n<p>Baber has an art degree from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. Her new painting classes have been very popular, and February and March slots have already filled up.<\/p>\n<p>There is space available for the 6:30 p.m. class on April 18. It is open to all ages and no experience is necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Her teaching style is to post a painting she created, then redo it step by step with the class.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are surprised how well their paintings turn out,\u201d Baber said. \u201cThe guidance of breaking it down into steps makes it doable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGroup Chat\u201d is a revamped after school program for all teenagers that meets on the second and fourth Thursdays from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Snacks, crafts and scholastic assistance are available.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe listen to the needs of the student, and then work to provide that,\u201d Baber said.<\/p>\n<p>A School to Farm program for students takes place on the first and third Thursdays starting at 3:30 pm. The program combines art, food, and culture. Activities include arts and crafts, meal preparation, and gardening.<\/p>\n<p>The library is seeking one or two volunteers to serve a three-year term on the board of trustees. Applicants must live within the library district, which is the same as Dolores Re-4 School District. A letter of interest should be submitted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Trustees support the library and determine what is working and what is not. They plan and help to market new services for the future of the library, attend special events, help manage finances and the facility and get involved with task force and committee work. The library board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m., and the meetings are open to the public.<\/div>\n<p>The current board includes President Belinda Platts, Vice President Jeanne Becker, Secretary Gina Hernandez, Rysta Williford and Pat Kantor.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">In brief<\/div>\n<p><em class=\"mwc_body_bullet\">The library offers free yoga classes every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. The class is taught by three rotating yoga instructors.<\/em><em class=\"mwc_body_bullet\">Dr. Janneli F. Miller\u2019s presentation and slideshow about her summer solstice celebrations in Spain was rescheduled for March 7 at 6:30 p.m. The festival takes place throughout June in the Mediterranean city of Alicante and includes hourlong parades, music and dancing in the streets, fireworks displays, pyrotechnic explosions, and food and beer booths.
