{"id":95123,"date":"2019-03-14T19:00:26","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T01:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/local-girls-named-to-san-juan-basin-all-conference-team\/"},"modified":"2019-03-14T19:00:26","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T01:00:26","slug":"local-girls-named-to-san-juan-basin-all-conference-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/local-girls-named-to-san-juan-basin-all-conference-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Local girls named to San Juan Basin all-conference team"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><!-- gallery:f4db4914-8c45-4f7a-8545-be62aff00d8e --><\/p>\n<p>After another entertaining San Juan Basin League girls basketball season, the following players from Dolores High School and Mancos High School were named to the Class 2A all-conference team.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Tatum Majors, first team<\/div>\n<p>Wrapping up an impressive four-year high school career with another great season, Dolores High School senior Tatum Majors once again ranked as one of the top post players in the San Juan Basin League and received first team all-conference honors.<\/p>\n<p>Among Majors\u2019 accomplishments were season averages of 10.0 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The senior scored a season-high 16 points in the team\u2019s 29-20 victory over Telluride and scored at least 15 points in four games last season.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Tia Imel, first team<\/div>\n<p>Emerging as one of the SJBL\u2019s top defensive players in her second season of high school basketball, Mancos High School sophomore Tia Imel consistently limited opposing guards and received first team all-conference honors.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her contributions on the defensive end, Imel served as her team\u2019s primary ball handler and averaged 3.9 point per game. The sophomore scored a season-high 12 points in her team\u2019s 41-35 loss to Nucla on Feb. 7 and scored 10 points in her team\u2019s 40-28 victory over Ridgway on Jan. 19.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">McKenzie Howerton, first team<\/div>\n<p>Again solidifying her status as a top two-way player in the SJBL, Dolores High School junior McKenzie Howerton provided her team with timely offense and lockdown defense throughout a season that resulted in her receiving first team all-conference honors.<\/p>\n<p>The junior\u2019s top offensive performance of the season came when she scored eight points during her team\u2019s 31-30 loss to Dove Creek on Jan. 15. Over the course of the year, Howerton averaged 3.8 points per game.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Ericka Peacock, second team<\/div>\n<p>Known as a consummate teammate who consistently brought teammates together, Mancos High School senior Ericka Peacock capped off a solid high school career with a season that resulted in second team all-conference honors.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to serving as a team leader throughout the year, Peacock averaged 4.2 points per game over the course of the season and scored a season-high nine points during her team\u2019s 41-35 victory over Nucla on Feb. 7.<\/p>\n<div class=\"naviga-element naviga-subheadline1\">Morgaine Milligin, second team<\/div>\n<p>After a season in which she controlled the paint and blocked far more than her fair share of shots, Dolores High School senior Morgaine Milligin was named second team all-conference.<\/p>\n<p>Among Milligin\u2019s most impressive performances was a 21-point outing during her team\u2019s 48-25 victory over Ouray on Feb. 2.
