A Farmington woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and crashing into a school bus south of Durango.<\/p>\n

The rear-end crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. south of Farmington Hill on U.S. Highway 550.<\/p>\n

Four children were on the bus; none were injured, said Capt. Adrian Driscoll with the Colorado State Patrol.<\/p>\n

The morning commute became snarled as a result of the crash. Traffic on Highway 550 was reduced to alternating lanes, Driscoll said.<\/p>\n

Dena Miller, 64, of Farmington is suspected of rear-ending the bus while driving a blue 2013 Honda CRV, Driscoll said. The vehicle sustained severe front-end damage. Miller was cited with careless driving and driving under the influence. Driscoll was unsure what type of drug Miller is suspected of using.<\/p>\n

Julie Popp, spokeswoman with Durango School District 9-R, confirmed it was a 9-R bus that was hit.<\/p>\n

All students were checked by paramedics; none reported injuries. Another bus was dispatched to the scene to take the children to school.<\/p>\n

She characterized it as a \u201cminor accident\u201d for the bus.<\/p>\n
