Matt Vincent, Ska’s vice president, was on a sparkling water kick at the time and started making it himself.

“‘You know,’ (Vincent) thought to himself, this is pretty silly, that I’m spending money buying this flavored sparkling water that I can actually make myself,” Thibodeau said. “So he made the first version of it. … As soon as he made it, we were like, ‘Wow, this is great, sparkling water.’”

<img decoding="async" src="https://imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com/?uuid=c9f47035-8bd2-4adc-9e93-f7eec1e33d13&function=cover&type=preview&source=false&width=2000" alt="Plant Manager Jeff Mason pulls a cup of Skagua from the tap at Ska Brewing Co.’s taproom on July 10.
