{"id":92246,"date":"2019-10-11T19:02:20","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T19:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/police-officer-shoots-kills-armed-man-in-farmington\/"},"modified":"2019-10-11T19:02:20","modified_gmt":"2019-10-11T19:02:20","slug":"police-officer-shoots-kills-armed-man-in-farmington","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dh.durangoherald.com\/tj\/police-officer-shoots-kills-armed-man-in-farmington\/","title":{"rendered":"Police officer shoots, kills armed man in Farmington"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><figure class=\"wp-block-image naviga-inline-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/imengine.public.prod.dur.navigacloud.com\/?uuid=a276c5f6-60e1-4b87-90fa-afa53bdb3f15&amp;function=cover&amp;type=preview&amp;source=false&amp;width=2000\" width=\"831\" height=\"467\" alt=\"\" class=\"naviga-image\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption><span class=\"credit\">du1-i-syn<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p><p>FARMINGTON \u2013 Farmington and New Mexico police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday night.<\/p>\n<p>Police received a report around 6 p.m. of a man threatening people with a gun in the 2800 block of Rio Vista Court, a residential neighborhood in northeast Farmington, according to a news release issued Friday morning by the department.<\/p>\n<p>Farmington police officers responded to the scene, with air support from the San Juan County Sheriff\u2019s Office. The department\u2019s helicopter had a visual of the situation and provided updates to officers on the ground, according to the release.<\/p>\n<p>Once police were on the scene, officers reported being confronted with a weapon. One officer fired at the suspect when the weapon was pointed at officers, said Nicole Brown, spokeswoman with the Farmington Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>The man with the gun died on scene.
